Uno Graduation tribute

To love is to be known. I am glad to have met and known you. None of this would have been possible without you.

To friends and mentors

In gratitude and with love.

When I was younger, Teacher GI used to say, “Learning should always be fun!” Because of this, I cruised through elementary school just having fun. I enjoyed doing the things I loved, like arts and music, and in return, I made the best memories and even better grades.

Getting into Pisay was an honor. I was not the top of my class. In fact, I was a headache kasi loko loko din ako nung elementary. When I passed Pisay, I soon realized na I would not enjoy this school. Everything is so science-y. I didn't really enjoy it hahaha🤣. I only enjoyed Music class, pero music is only ⅓ ng PEHM na grade. AdTech class was just 1/8 arts and the rest are plates, plates, and more plates… giatay. Everyone around me were overachievers, valedictorians, and veterans in academic competitions. Imagine, I didn't even know about the existence of Journalism and MTAP. The only competition I had participated in was banda banda lang 🤣. Needless to say, I grew up without a competitive spirit. This is why I was crushed when I received my grades in Grade 7 for the first quarter and realized that good grades couldn’t be achieved by yaga yaga lang. I didn't have a line of 7, pero 64 lagi ako sa Math—boanga uy…I really struggled trying to up my grades, kasi I really was NOT enjoying it. May seatmate pa talaga ako na muhilak na ug one mistake unya ako kay maka 0 sa quiz, SO MAHIYA AKO EH. Dili ko ganahan mustudy and I was miles away from home. I was homesick a lot and I did not have a lot of friends. I went through a lot of changes, especially sa personality ko.In the process of improving my grades, I tried being competitive. I really did. But all it did was make me sick and insecure. I was so focused on getting results and not learning for the sake of learning. In the end, I became so tired and I still wasn’t the person I wanted to be.That’s why I am very thankful for the people and communities that helped me settle and grow and taught me to have fun throughout my stay here.

Thank you to the PSHS SRC Chorale for the best years of my high school life. Singing with you was so much fun. To the Ates and Kuyas who adopted me and made me feel at home—Ate Gayle, Ate Glee, Ate Floreah, Ate Rhea, Ate Trixie, Ate Farah, Ate Alex, Kuya Derrick, and Ate Engela—thank you so much. To Sir Emil, thank you for being the best chorale teacher. Thank you for being patient with my yaga yaga and for always trusting me. To Kuya Charles, thanks for being a great senior frience back then. I had a hard time with a lot of things, so thank you for all the advices and introducing me to Noblesse. To Banda ni Emil and Banda ni Emil 2.0, thank you sa lahat ng mga corny natin na set lists and palpak na performances 🤣 Had an awesome time performing with you Kuya Derrick, Ate Engela, Ean, Kristoff, Josh, Matthea, and Joshua.

To Going South, thank you for the 2 years. I was able to live out my dream to be in a high school rock band because of you. Na-push jud ko outside my comfort zone playing with you, and in return, I was able to be better in what I usually do. Thank you sa tanan memories, away ug (almost) buwaganay. To all the OG songs nato, I would always keep it close to my heart🤘Love you always Zedric, Adnan, Chelsea, Janna, and especially Abeto. To Abeto, kahit na lisod kaayo ka ka-istorya, thanks for being you. Will really miss all the jammings natin na tayo lang makasabot to composing songs. Ingat always diyan PMA, lods.

To Ate Alex, thank you for always keeping in touch. I never had an ate, and you were the closest thing I had to having one. Thank you for all the hugs and kisses, for waking me up para maligo, and for holding my hand when I wasn’t feeling well. I love you so much and I hope to see you soonest.

To the LuntiHouse team, Ced and AK, thank you so much. I am so, so proud of our work and how far we have come. Thank you jud Ced for handling the hardware, and AK for being the rock sa atoang group and for being so organized. I really, really enjoyed the two years we had together. Ug si Sir Jimmy! Thank you kaayo for being my research adviser for 3 solid years. Thank you for trusting us always and for saving us from multiple evaluations 🥹 Pinaka solid talaga na adviser. Thank you so much for the memories! To Mam Jessa and Sir Tabs, you are more than just teachers. You have helped me through tough times, and I am very thankful for that. You saved me more times than I could count. To Mommy Nurse, thank you for listening to my stories and for not kicking me out of the clinic even if alam mo naga tikal ra kog sakit sakit. Thanks for the words of wisdom Sir Boni, and for being a real one. Sayang recently lang ako di natakot sayo 😅 A true rocker at its core. Currently loving Man Overboard and will miss all the chika sessions. To Sir Glad, thank you for being so chill and cool. Alam ko na may mga times na maglagot ka na sa akin hehe suriii. Keep calm and listen to Cueshe🤘Will fail fast, and learn even faster. To all the friends that I made along the way,To my G7-G8 lifelines, mga hatdog, Sophia Sanchez and Pauline Maeve, I had the best time of my life with you. To the c0oL 5qu4d—Gwenn, PJ, Sandra, and Beau—thank you so much for being there during G8 when I was having a hard time. To tindahan ni marites—Yisha, Sham, and Cha—thank you for being a solid 10/10 during the pandemic. To the Bibo Kid Club, a super random combo that worked—Nor and PJ—thank you so much. I don’t know how I survived G10 without you.

And last but not the least, to GPTA—Ana, Cha, Chelsea, Flory, Gwenn, Airah, Kyla, Megan, Pau, and Sandra—I love you all so, so, so much. You made my senior high unforgettable. To my CS friends, Xed and Rush, good luck always and thank you! To my CS people who are no longer pursuing CS, John Beau and Aids, you knew all the versions of me and still stuck through it all. My BBFs, truly.Because of these people, I had fun in school and was able to improve my grades because I stopped worrying and started enjoying myself. I tried to be a new person, but then I realized that the best version of me is just being myself. So, I had fun and made a lot of friends. I said yes to opportunities just for the heck of it, just to try them. When I had fun, I loved the process and loved the results even more.I'm still not competitive 😅, but I have come a long way from being super insecure to being someone who is good enough for herself.Audentes fortuna iuvat. Fortune favors the brave. I am so glad I was brave enough to learn, love, and live. I can’t wait to see what more I can do tomorrow.

to my family

"Gratitude is the memory of the heart."- Jean Baptiste Massieu

As I sit here thinking about what to write, I realize that I have a lot to be thankful for. I come from a very big family. I have four brothers and too much attitude for two parents to handle. With my brothers being athletes and me going to boarding school, raising us was hard. My parents did the best they could, but sometimes, two people can't handle all of this.An old African proverb says, "It takes a village to raise a child." So, I would like to take this opportunity to thank every person in my village. Because if it weren't for them, I wouldn't have done and achieved all of this. I would not be here if it weren't for the people who raised me and helped me become the person I am today.I would like to thank Tito Toto and Tita Arlyn for supporting me and my family for the longest time. Your genuine kindness and generosity are something I will always remember. You have been there for us in our greatest need, and I will always be grateful.I would like to thank Tito Olay for being my one and only H&MUA. You taught me what it’s like to be humble. I used to be very maldita baya, and I know tinud-anay na jud ang pag bira sa akong hair pag magpa-rebond ko kay nag lagot na jud ka 🤣. You have always been just one call away, always offering your time and services. Needless to say, you have always been someone I could call when times are rough. So, thank you so much.I would like to thank Tito Kirb. He is someone na bully jud in real life, but when he knows na you are in need, he sends money to me and food to my siblings. I can’t thank you enough for all the help you have given us siblings over the years.Thank you to Tita Bidang for all the support. Thank you for being one of the people who would always reach out to me randomly and mag samok-samok. Thank you for teaching me how to drive, for offering me your home when I was at my lowest, for spending a lot on me and taking me to places I’ve never been before, for supporting my academic endeavors, and for always talking to me like I am someone whose opinions you value. You have always made me feel like I am someone, and with that, you have helped me become more confident in myself and my thoughts. I couldn’t thank you enough.I would also like to thank Tito Kim for being there for me. Even though we only became close recently because you just moved, you have done a lot for me, and I am very thankful for that. Thank you for driving all the way to see me when you heard me crying on the phone, for teaching me to be strategic, for letting me eat and eat and eat, and for always welcoming me.To my second mothers, Tita Jean and Tita Nene, you have always been there for us, especially for my brothers. You are always just one call away, ready to help even if you don't have enough yourself. You made our home whole, and I don't think we would have achieved everything we have without you.To Pamilya de Numero, I owe everything I have to you. Thank you, Mommy and Daddy, for always supporting me and for being there with me throughout my high school journey. You have witnessed all of my identity crises and changes and still loved every single version of me. You have never pressured me, and you made life comfortable enough for me to enjoy. I can never thank you enough. To Dos and Tres, thank you for always understanding Ate and for taking care of me. You are my solid best friends for life, and no one understands me and loves me more than you do. To Quattro and Cinco, my forever babies, I love you guys just as much. Thank you for always bonding with me even when I am tired and for always wanting to spend time with me.And last but not the least, to my biggest fan, Lolo, I still miss you every day. You were always so proud of me even if I had nothing to show you. All of this is for you, Lo.These people taught me what it is like to give without expecting anything in return, to be genuinely kind, and to be a shoulder to cry on just because you can. They taught me what family really is: unconditional love.Everything that I have done and everything that I will do, I owe it to all of you. Thank you very, very much.

“The only failure is not trying.”
— Robin S. Sharma

I am someone who faced a lot of self-doubt. It was hard to be brave enough to accept failure. I wasted so much time worrying about failing, that I ignored the possibilities of making it.Which is why I am very proud of what I have achieved, even if it pales in comparison to others.

Thank you for being a part of my high school journey. It was more than just academics. It was a journey of growth and maturity. Learning and relearning. Recalibrating my metrics. Figuring my clocks and my compasses. Failing and trying again.I would love to hear from you. Hit me up!
